Donald Trump supporters started the rumor that Jay Z hit a girl during the Hillary Clinton event on Friday night. The rumor is false. Jay Z did not hit anyone at the Cleveland Get-Out-the-Vote concert. The video is actually more than 15 years old. The footage is from the 2000 film, Backstage.
Backstage documents Jay Z's 1999 Hard Knock Life Tour. The female in the video was a Roc-A-Fella executive and one of the rapper's friends. He grew up with her and the incident was not serious. Backstage was produced by Damon Dash, the co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records. If the incident was serious they wouldn't have included it in the film.
