Who Is Angela Simmons Mom? Valerie Vaughn

Angela Simmons' mom, Valerie Vaughn, has made multiple appearances on Growing Up Hip Hop.  Valerie was married to Angela's father, Joseph Simmons aka Rev Run from 1983 to 1992.  Valerie and Rev Run got divorced after he was accused of rape.  On February 23, 1992, a judge dismissed the charges.

Rev Run's accuser was a 22-year-old from Cleveland, Ohio.  The case was dismissed because of the accuser's lack of evidence.  Although Joseph didn't rape his accuser, he admitted to sleeping with her.  As a result, Valerie filed for divorce.  Valerie and Rev Run have three children together: Vanessa, Angela and Jojo.

In the fourth episode of Growing Up Hip Hop's second season, we see Angela and her mom shopping for baby clothes.  Valerie is very excited about her daughter's pregnancy and anxious to find out the sex of the baby.  When Angela makes her wait, Valerie threatens to purchase boys' and girls' baby clothing.

Angela finally reveals that she's expecting a baby boy and Valerie's super excited.  This isn't Valerie's first grandchild.  On September 9, 2014, Vanessa Simmons welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Ava Marie.  Two years later, Jojo welcomed his adorable daughter, Mia Kaylee.  Angela welcomed her cute little guy in September of 2016.
